Wolfberry Fruit

The wolfberry fruit is a red-orange berry that is actually a part of the tomato and chili pepper family. The berry is also know as goji or Chinese wolfberries and has been found in the China region for 2000 years. The wolfberries are picked for their medicinal benefits and are known to the United States as a superfruit.

Unfortunately, wolfberries are not commonly found in their natural form and are usually sold in dried form or mixed with other ingredients to make smoothies or juices. When the berries are dried they are usually cooked before consuming. They’re used by the Chinese in rice dishes, soups and boiled as a tea.

The Chinese believe that the wolfberry fruit, which is high in antioxidants, calcium, iron, zinc and vitamins, can help fight diseases, reduce the risk of kidney and liver conditions, and help with sexual hormone issues in men. Who knew those little berries could pack such a punch? Well, obviously someone knew!
